Gannon Volleyball Team Travels To California (Pa.) for PSAC Tournament Tuesday

The Gannon volleyball team will compete in the PSAC Tournament for the third straight year, traveling to California (Pa.) on Tuesday.
ERIE, Pa. - The fourth-seeded Gannon volleyball team will travel to California (Pa.) for the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament Tuesday, November 8. The Lady Knights will take on the top-seeded Vulcans at 7 p.m.

The winner of the match will advance to the PSAC Touranment semifinals which will take place Friday, November 11 at the highest remaining seed from the Eastern Divison. 

The other quarterfinal match in the Western Division features Edinboro hosting Clarion. In the Eastern Division, top-seeded Lock Haven will face Shippensburg, while West Chester travels to Kutztown.

Gannon and California (Pa.) split the regular season series with each team winning on its home court. The Lady Knights swept the Vulcans in the first meeting before Cal defeated Gannon in a five-set thriller.

Gannon leads the PSAC in hitting percentage at .241 while California (Pa.) holds opponents to a conference-best .139 attack percentage. The Lady Knights have ranked in the top 10 nationally all season long in blocks per set, stuffing 2.53 attempts per match.

Kara Cullen (Marstons Mills, Mass. / Barnstable) and Lauren Sazama (St. Louis, Mo. / Oakville) have led Gannon offensively this season. Cullen leads the PSAC in hitting percentage (.335) and ranks second in blocks per set (1.14), trailing only teammate Claren Harris (South Milwaukee, Wis. / South Milwaukee). Sazama is third in the conference in kills per set (3.80).

Megan Franz leads the Vulcans with a .325 hitting percentage, averaging 2.79 kills per set. Sara McMullen has 52 aces this season while also leading the team in digs per set with 3.95.
