CHEYNEY, Pa. – After splitting a pair of matches on Friday, the Lady Knights rebounded on Saturday by making quick work of Cheyney during the second day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover Tournament.
Gannon made huge runs during all three sets to eventually earn a 3-0 win by scores of 25-4, 25-5 and 25-9. As a team the Lady Knights hit an astonishing .574 in the match, recording 34 kills compared to just three errors.
Gannon's defense recorded 41 digs and four total blocks during the match. The wolves hit -.148 for the match, committing 14 errors while recording just five kills.
In the first set the Lady Knights rolled off a 21-1 run before using a 14-1 run in the second set. Gannon earned the win in the third set by a 25-9 score, posting runs of 6-0 and 6-1.
Emily Carver (Stow, Ohio / Theodore Roosevelt) and
Maggie Desrosiers (Uniontown, Ohio / Hoover) led the way for Gannon recording 11 and 10 kills respectively. Desrosiers hit an amazing .714 in the match, recording 10 kills on 14 touches and finishing the match without an error. She also had four aces and two digs. Carver and two solo blocks and one block assist while hitting .625 on the day.
Chelsea Barrett (Coloma, Mich. / Coloma) finished with seven kills on 11 touches.
Courtney Cook (Middleburg Heights, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) and
Taryn Graham (Huron, Ohio / Huron) each had 12 digs.
The Lady Knights improved to 14-6 overall and 10-1 in the PSAC. Gannon will travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Wednesday, October 12 at 6 p.m.
