ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University volleyball team will host California (Pa.) Tuesday, September 23 at the Hammermill Center. The 13th-ranked Vulcans will face the Lady Knights at 7 p.m.
The Lady Knights (3-7, 0-3) lost at Slippery Rock Saturday 3-1. Senior
Ashley Tubbs (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) had 11 kills and 11 digs and
Jess Saunders (Hinckley, Ohio/Highland) had a career-high 28 digs.
Cal (15-0, 4-0) defeated Indiana (Pa.) 3-0 Saturday and beat Slippery Rock 3-0 Friday. The Vulcans did not lose a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match in the 2007 season, going 35-4 overall on their way to the NCAA Tournament.
Tubbs has a team-high 126 kills this season, while Saunders leads with 127 digs in 2008.
Matt Darling is in his second year as Gannon head coach. This is the Lady Knights' first year in the PSAC.
GU was chosen to finish seventh in the PSAC West, according to the preseason coaches' poll. Cal was picked to win the division.
