EDINBORO, Pa. - The Gannon volleyball team won two matches Friday in the PSAC Crossover at Edinboro University. The Lady Knights swept Kutztown (25-18, 25-16, 25-17) and then took three straight from Cheyney (25-2, 25-6, 25-5).
Due to Cheyney travel complications, Gannon (6-9) played a revised schedule, facing Kutztown first Friday evening. GU controlled their match with the Golden Bears (11-9), as
Ashley Tubbs (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) had 13 kills and
Lindsey Deitmen (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) added 10 and seven digs.
Maire Prybyl (Mars, Pa./North Catholic) had 29 assists and seven aces as well.
The Lady Knights then dominated Cheyney (0-6) in the nightcap.
Holly Urbanick (Conneautville, Pa./Linesville) had eight kills and Prybyl led with 16 assists. Deitmen had 10 aces while
Chelsea Barrett (Coloma, Mich./Coloma) added seven of her own. Deitmen's ace total is the most at GU in at least eight years, as Gannon volleyball archives do not cover single-game records prior to 2000.
The Lady Knights continue action at the event Saturday, October 4. GU matches up with Shippensburg at 12:30 p.m.
