Hess, a redshirt junior from Canonsburg, Pa., bounced back from an early season slump in a big way this week. Hess entered the week hitting .175. He ended the week at .269 after going 13-for-28 to hit .464 in eight games with a 1.071 slugging percentage. He scored seven runs and had 13 RBIs, while hitting five home runs, including three in the last four games. He had a pair of doubles and a stolen base.

A left-handed hitting first baseman, Hess had two hits in six of the eight games. He drove in five runs in Friday's 8-5 win over Slippery Rock, hitting a grand slam in the fourth inning to give Gannon a 6-2 lead. He had three RBIs in game one vs. Mansfield. The Mansfield doubleheader culminated a stretch of four doubleheaders in four days, and Gannon played six doubleheaders in a span of eight days.Â

In addition to boosting his average to .269, Hess is second on the team with six home runs and is tied for second with 17 RBIs. He has four doubles, which is third on the team. Hess stands second in career home runs at Gannon with 24, now three shy of Nate Cardy's school record of 27.
