Petrella earned the Super Region 1 championship at 174 pounds and improved his season record to 24-4. He defeated All-American Brock Biddle of Pitt-Johnstown in the semifinals 6-4 and avenged an earlier loss this season to Mercyhurst’s No. 8-ranked Dillon Walker in the finals. Both of Petrella’s matches with Walker were decided by sudden victory, with Joey coming out victorious, 3-1, in last Saturday’s title bout. Both Petrella and Dunlop are two of the eight Golden Knight wrestlers that qualified for next weekend’s NCAA Division II National Tournament.
