All 17 student-athletes on the Gannon women's volleyball team are this week's Gannon Female Student-Athletes of the Week. The Lady Knights made history by advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the fourth time in program history, but first time since 1993. The squad then recorded the program's first-ever match victory and first-ever set win in the Elite Eight when it swept No. 2 seed Regis (Colo.) during the national quarterfinals. The Lady Knights became the first Gannon volleyball team in school history to advance to the national semifinals where it dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 3 seed Florida Southern. To qualify for the Elite Eight, the squad swept Wheeling Jesuit on the Cardinals' home floor in the Sweet Sixteen. The decision ended WJU's streak of six consecutive regional championships. Wheeling Jesuit had won 26 straight sets in NCAA Atlantic Regional play dating back to 2014 and 20 consecutive matches in NCAA Atlantic Regional play dating back to 2010.
