Guarriello played a major role in the Gannon wrestling team's 23-22 road victory at No. 12 Lake Erie last Wednesday. The true freshman opened the meet with a pin of Blake Glogouski at 125 pounds in one minute and 54 seconds. Glogouski is ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II and No. 3 in NCAA Division II Super Region Two while Guarriello entered the match with a 9-15 overall record. Leading 2-1, Guarriello recorded his second takedown of the bout and turned the move into a pin with 1:06 remaining in the first period. Guarriello recorded his seventh pin of the season, ranking third among Golden Knights. The decision was arguably with swing match of the night as Gannon eventually won 23-22 on criteria. It was the Golden Knights’ fifth victory of the season in six match-ups against nationally-ranked opponents. Gannon is listed among others receiving votes in the latest Wrestling Coaches Association (WCA) Top 25 Poll and sits No. 5 in NCAA Division II Super Region One. The Golden Knights won their fifth consecutive dual meet, representing their longest win streak since matching the five-meet streak January 15-21, 2012. Gannon's eight dual victories were its most since finishing 8-4 during the 2013-14 campaign.
