Benack led the Gannon baseball team to a perfect 5-0 record last week, including a four-game sweep of Indiana (Pa.). The sophomore outfielder hit .529 (9-17) with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage in five starts. He recorded five runs, five doubles, one home run, five RBIs and 17 total bases. In addition, Benack was perfect in eight fielding opportunities. He hit .667 (6-9) with runners on base and reached base 80 percent (4-5) of the time when leading off an inning while raising his average 85 points last week to its current .375 mark. Benack recorded a hit during all five games, extending his team-best hit streak to six. He went 6-for-8 with four runs, three RBIs, four doubles and one home run during the opening doubleheader against Indiana (Pa.). Benack began the series with a 3-for-4 showing, three runs, three RBIs, two doubles and one home run during a 17-11 victory. He posted career-highs in RBIs and runs during the first game. Benack then went 3-for-4 with one run and two doubles during an 8-7 walk-off win in the nightcap. He recorded three hits for the second consecutive game and third time during his career. Benack snapped a 1-1 tie against Lake Erie during a non-conference game earlier in the week with a bases loaded sacrifice fly, giving Gannon a lead it would never relinquished en route to an 11-7 victory. He is hitting .375 with a .604 slugging percentage and .459 on-base percentage through 21 games this season. Benack leads Gannon in doubles (8).
