Wiesen hit .567 (17-30) with a .767 slugging percentage and .649 on-base percentage during 10 games last week for the Gannon baseball team at the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida. The senior outfielder added 17 runs, eight RBIs, 23 total bases, five walks and six stolen bases as Gannon’s lead-off hitter. Defensively, he was errorless in 12 fielding opportunities. Wiesen hit .364 (4-11) against left-handers, .684 (13-19) against right-handers, .692 (9-13) with runners on base, .800 (8-10) with runners in scoring position and .556 (5-9) with two outs. He reached base 66.7 percent (10-15) of the time when leading off an inning and had four two-out RBIs. Wiesen recorded multiple-hit games during seven of 10 contests, giving him a team-best 10 this season. He extended his season-high hit streak to five games by recording two hits during both games of Gannon’s first doubleheader in Florida against Cleary. Wiesen finished the opening twinbill 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs, before going 5-for-6 with six runs and five RBIs during a doubleheader sweep of regional foe Wheeling Jesuit. He finished the first game against Findlay 3-for-3 with two runs, completing a three-game stretch 8-for-9 with eight runs and five RBIs. Wiesen ended the week with a 5-for-8 showing and six runs during the final three games. He hit a home run during the bottom of the third inning against Wheeling Jesuit that tied the game at 10, capping a Gannon rally from a 10-1 deficit en route to an 11-10 win. Wiesen recorded two hits and three RBIs during one inning in a 17-1 victory against Wheeling Jesuit, ripping a single and triple. After starting the season outside of Gannon’s all-time top 15, Wiesen moved into Gannon’s all-time top six during the final Florida game with his 163rd career hit. He moved into ninth place all-time at Gannon in runs (95) and 11th in stolen bases (38).
