Gumbita posted a 5-1 record and 1.47 earned run average during six appearances for the Gannon softball team last week at the National Training Center (NTC) Games in Clermont, Florida. The junior right-hander struck out 38 and walked only eight in 38 innings. She didn’t issue a walk during four of six starts, ending the trip without a walk during the final 15 1/3 innings. Gumbita limited the opposition to a .227 average, shut out three opponents and completed all six games. She limited opposing hitters to a .226 average (14-62) with runners on base and .196 average (9-46) with two outs. Gumbita won her first four decisions against Notre Dame (Ohio) (4-2), Tiffin (1-0 in eight innings), Georgian Court (6-0) and Lake Superior State (14-2). During the win streak were back-to-back shutouts against Tiffin and Georgian Court, as well as a 20-inning scoreless streak stretch. Gumbita threw a two-hitter against Georgian Court, striking out 11 and walking none. She ended the week with a three-hit shutout of St. Anselm. Gumbita pushed her career numbers in complete games to 29 and shutouts to eight.
