Zanders was also named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Defensive Football Player of the Week after leading the Gannon football team to a 16-13 victory at rival Mercyhurst last Saturday with nine tackles, two pass break-ups, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception. The Golden Knights took back the Niagara Cup for the first time since 2011 with the win. With Mercyhurst at the Gannon 24-yard line in the second quarter, Zanders sacked the Mercyhurst quarterback and forced a fumble to preserve a 6-0 lead with 7:01 left in the first half. Leading 16-13, the junior defensive back clinched the victory by intercepting a pass in the end zone as time ran out. The Charlotte, N.C., native was consistent throughout the game with three tackles during the third quarter and two stops in each of the other three quarters. Zanders is Gannon's second-leading tackler through six games with 52 stops. He has recorded nine tackles in three consecutive games.
