Mike Phillips tied a career-high with 17 tackles during a 26-22 victory at Southern Connecticut State, equaling the third-highest single-game total in school history. The redshirt senior defensive back fell three tackles shy of the school record. In the process, he jumped seven players and moved into 12th place all-time at Gannon with 227 career stops. The Bowie, Md., native had 11 tackles during the first half as Gannon opened a 20-3 halftime lead. He then helped Gannon shut out Southern Connecticut State during the second quarter when he recorded six tackles, two tackles for a loss and 0.5 sack. Phillips added six tackles, one tackle for a loss and 0.5 sack during the final quarter as Gannon held off a late comeback.
