Freeman led the Gannon women's basketball team to a perfect 2-0 week with a road victory at cross-town rival Mercyhurst (58-48), before knocking off No. 2 California (Pa.) (78-74). The Vulcans were the highest ranked opponent Gannon has ever defeated in its 35-year history. The junior guard has reached double digits in scoring during six consecutive games and has reached the 20-point plateau seven times this season. She opened the week by scoring 41 percent of Gannon's points during a 58-48 victory at Mercyhurst. However, Freeman completely turned the game around with her defensive skills. She recorded six steals, including four in the span of six minutes and 31 seconds that helped turned the tide in the second half. Every steal came as Mercyhurst brought the ball up court and resulted in fast-break points. Against Cal, Freeman went toe-to-toe with All-American Brooque Williams. She posted 18 of her season-high 26 points during the second half as Gannon snapped a 36-36 halftime tie. Freeman also moved into Gannon's all-time top 20 in scoring last week and now has 934 career points.
