Cox was superb during a 5-0 victory in the first game of last Sunday's doubleheader at Clarion, allowing only a lead-off double in the fourth inning. The sophomore right-hander set the Golden Eagles down in order three times and stranded five Clarion runners. He ended the game by retiring 11 of the last 12 hitters he faced. Cox improved to 6-3 with his third career shutout and 14th career complete game. He struck out eight and walked only one. The Dorchester, N.J., native has completed eight of his nine starts this season. Cox lowered his season ERA 46 points to 3.45 while striking out at least eight hitters for the fifth time this season. He has allowed one run or less in an outing five times this season.
