Weinell was perfect in two matches last weekend at 133 pounds as the Gannon wrestling team split a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual meets at East Stroudsburg and No. 7 Kutztown. Ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Super Region One, the redshirt junior  began the week with a 3-1 victory against East Stroudsburg's Joey Kratochvil, giving Gannon a 7-0 lead at the time. Kratochvil is tabbed fifth in the region. The Golden Knights went on to grab a 23-0 lead enroute to a 26-15 victory. He then defeated Kutztown's Brandon Davis 12-10, giving the Golden Knights an 8-0 during that meet. Trailing 7-2, Weinell pulled within one point with a takedown and a two-point nearfall during the second period.  Davis pushed his lead back to three points with a takedown early in the third, but Weinell responded with an escape and takedown of his own to knot the score at nine. An escape by Davis put the Kutztown wrestler back up 10-9, before Weinell recorded a takedown with 55 seconds to forge ahead for the first time in the bout. A stalling point accounted for the final 12-10 score. Weinell improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in dual action with his fourth consecutive victory. He has teammed with Matt Turek to give Gannon to opening wins at 125 and 133 during five consecutive dual meets.
