Rankie recorded a team-best 12 tackles as the Gannon football team clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division winning record with a 40-21 victory against Seton Hill at Gannon University Field. The redshirt junior linebacker helped the Gannon defense hold Seton Hill to five first downs, 30 yards and no points during the second half. He tied the school's single-game record for tackles that resulted in a loss with six, equaling Chad Cressley's record set against Waynesburg in 1993. Rankie reached double digits in tackles for the fifth time this season. He recorded eight of his 12 tackles during the first half when Gannon led by only a slim 28-21 margin at the break, including five stops in the second quarter. The Lockport, N.Y., native joined Trenton Donald to produce a fourth-quarter safety. Rankie leads Gannon this season in tackles (88), solo tackles (33), assisted tackles (50), tackles for a loss (14) and sacks (5). He needs nine tackles to enter Gannon's all-time top 10 in single-season tackle totals.
