Furno helped the Gannon men’s basketball team split two games last week, falling at Slippery Rock (69-56) before rebounding with a home win against Lock Haven (77-66) that clinched the program’s first PSAC Tournament spot since 2009-10. The senior forward averaged 10.5 points and five rebounds despite playing only 33 minutes total during the two games. He shot 56.3 percent (9-16) from the field and 75 percent (3-4) from the free throw line. Furno began the week with two baskets during eight minutes at Slippery Rock, before recording his first career double-double against Lock Haven. He produced 17 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench against the Bald Eagles. Furno was 7-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe against Lock Haven. The Columbus, Ohio, native also added two assists, two blocks and a steal. He recorded eight points and five rebounds during the first half, before adding nine points and five rebounds during the final 20 minutes. Furno has reached double digits in scoring three times this season, also finding double digits against Notre Dame (Ohio) (15 pts.) and California (Pa.) (12 pts.).
