Matos posted a perfect 2-0 record last week at 133, winning bouts during dual meets against No. 12 Pitt-Johnstown and No. 7 Kutztown. The redshirt senior began the week by knocking off Pitt-Johnstown’s David Fogle, who was ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division I Super Regional One and eighth nationally. The match was tied at two after two periods, before Matos finished strong. He opened the third period with an escape, before getting two more points on a takedown. Against Kutztown’s Brandon Davis, the match was tied at three after one period. Matos opened a 6-3 lead with an escape and a takedown during the second period, before holding off Davis. Matos is ranked No. 2 at 133 in the latest regional rankings and No. 7 in the latest national rankings. He improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in dual competition. He has three pins this season. Matos is a previous All-American after an eighth-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championships.
