Batts led the 10th-ranked Gannon women’s basketball team to a perfect 2-0 record last week, defeating NCAA Division II Independent Notre Dame (Ohio) on the road 64-57 and 14th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) at home 69-58. The sophomore guard averaged 22.5 points in two games, hitting 54.5 percent (12-22) of her three-pointers. She committed no turnovers in 73 minutes of action. Batts began the week with a season-high 19 points and three steals in 38 minutes at Notre Dame (Ohio). She hit a season-high five three-pointers and went 4-of-4 from the free throw line against the Falcons. The Leesburg, Va., native ended the week with a career-high 26 points and a career-high seven three-pointers against IUP. With leading scorer Jen Papich out with an injury, Batts hit her final seven three-point attempts against the Crimson Hawks. Gannon held a four-point lead when Batts hit three triples during the final 2:15 of the first half to give the Lady Knights a 35-25 halftime lead. She finished two three-pointers shy of Gannon’s single-game record of nine. Batts has reached double digits in scoring during six consecutive games, including the last four when she has started due to injuries. She has hit a three-pointer in 11 straight contests dating back to last season.
