Turek led the Gannon wrestling team to a 10th-place showing during the 62-team Ohio Northern Invitational last Saturday by winning the 125-pound championship. After opening the season with a 4-1 record and a third-place finish at the Mercyhurst Open, the redshirt sophomore went 5-0 at the Ohio Northern Invitational. All five matches were decided by at least five point as the dominant run included two major decisions. Turek opened the Ohio Northern Invitational with a 19-6 major decision against Ohio Northern's Nathan Grieser. His path to the finals included a 7-2 decision against Alma's Tyler Foley, a 12-3 major decision against Lycoming's Cody Barbiche and a 12-6 decision against Campbellsville's Jarvis Elam. Turek then grabbed the gold medal with an 11-5 decision against Alma's Collin Lesko in the finals. He is now 9-1 with two top-three finishes through two events this season. Turek has five major decisions in 10 matches this season.
