Jones helped the Gannon football team snap a seven-game losing streak with a career-high 183 rushing yards on 29 carries Saturday night at Lock Haven, helping the Golden Knights earn a 13-7 victory. It was the 10th-highest single-game total in school history and the most rushing yards by a Golden Knight since Zach Boedicker had 184 yards against Mercyhurst on September 22, 2007. Jones entered the contest with 361 yards through eight games, before gaining over half that figure during Saturday’s contest. He shattered his previous career-high of 128 yards set against Slippery Rock on November 5, 2011. Jones rushed for 35 yards during an opening drive that ate up 81 yards on all running plays and gave the Golden Knights a 7-0 lead. After Gannon assumed possession at its 16-yard line with a 13-7 lead and 4:02 remaining, Jones helped the Golden Knights run out the clock. He rushed for 35 yards on five carries during the drive, picking up a pair of first downs in the process to run out the clock. Jones reached the 1,000-yard rushing plateau for his career Saturday night and now has 1,087 career rushing yards.
