Cortazzo led the Gannon softball team to a 3-1 record during two doubleheaders last week, sweeping Seton Hill (Pa.) and splitting a pair of games against 25th-ranked California (Pa.). The sophomore second baseman turned in an impressive offensive weekend, recording a .438 (7-for-16) batting average with three home runs and seven RBIs. She totaled 17 total bases for a 1.063 slugging percentage, making her OPS for the week 1.501. Against Seton Hill, Cortazzo had a double during a five-run inning for the Lady Knights. In the second game, she was part of Gannon’s come-from-behind win as her home run brought the Lady Knights within one. For the day, she had three hits and two RBIs. Against No. 25 California (Pa. ), Cortazzo blasted a pair of home runs during a 9-4 extra-innings win. Cortazzo got Gannon on the board with a solo home run. After entering the eighth inning tied at 4-4, Cortazzo provided the big hit for Gannon with a grand slam that gave them a 9-5 lead. She finished the game 3-for-5 with five RBIs. In the second game, Cortazzo recorded one of Gannon’s only three hits. For the week, she was 3-for-7 (.429) with runners on base.
