Deimel has been selected to participate as an individual in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Men's Golf Regional for the second consecutive season. Millersville University will host the three-day event May 2-4 at the Hershey Links Golf Club in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Deimel becomes the first Gannon golfer to be invited to back-to-back NCAA Division II Regionals since Dave Patronik played in four straight (2003-06) NCAA Division II Great Lakes/South Central Regionals.
The Erie, Pa., native was one of only four individuals from the Atlantic region selected to play in addition to the 10 qualifying teams. The senior averaged 74.9 strokes through 18 rounds this season. He recorded two rounds under par and placed in the top 20 during all eight events, including four top-five finishes.
Deimel has been solid during his entire collegiate career. Deimel owns a 74.8 average in 66 rounds during his four-year career. His best rounds this season resulted in fourth-place finishes the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship, the Gannon Invitational and the West Chester Invitational.
A 2010 NCAA Division II PING All-Atlantic Region selection, Deimel finished sixth at last year's NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional. The performance qualified him for the NCAA Division II National Championship, where he finished 18th. It represented the highest finish by a PSAC golfer at the 2010 national championship.
The top five teams plus the top two individuals not on an advancing team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the 2011 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship May 16-20 at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Florence, Alabama. The finals will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.
