McKendree led the Gannon wrestling team to a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in Kearney, Nebraska. The redshirt senior became the third wrestler in school history and first since 2002 (Lyneil Mitchell) to advance to a national title match when he reached the 165-pound finals. His bid to become the second national champion in school history fell a bit short with an overtime loss to third-ranked Michael Lybarger of Findlay. McKendree advanced to the finals with three consecutive victories, including a pin of second-ranked Tad Merriott of St. Cloud State and a 5-2 victory against sixth-ranked Joey Wilson of Nebraska-Kearney. He concluded his career as Gannon's all-time leader in victories, finishing with 111. McKendree became the fifth two-time All-American in Gannon history after finishing seventh in the 149-pound weight class in 2008.
