ERIE, Pa. - Freshman Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wisc. / Wisconsin Lutheran) of the Gannon women's volleyball team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the conference office.

Receiving her first-career conference weekly honor, Kren led the Lady Knights to a 3-1 record at the PSAC East/West Crossover on Oct. 18-19 hosted by Pitt-Johnstown and Lock Haven. The freshman earned three double-doubles on the weekend, compiling 74 kills on a .257 hitting percentage along with 46 digs, one solo block and six block assists.

In Gannon's 3-2 opening win over host Pitt-Johnstown on Oct. 18, Kren posted a career-high 21 kills along with eight digs, two block assists and one service ace. In the second match of the day against Shippensburg, Kren recorded her first double-double of the weekend with 18 kills and 11 digs in the Lady Knights' 3-1 loss.

After recording a career-high the night before, Kren struck back with 20 kills on a weekend-best .357 hitting percentage to lead the Lady Knights to a 3-2 win over host Lock Haven on Oct. 19. She added 14 digs for her second double-double, including a solo block and a block assist.

To conclude action at the PSAC East/West Crossover, Kren earned her third double-double of the weekend. Kren led the Lady Knights to a 3-1 victory over Millersville in the second match of the day, registering 15 kills, 13 digs and a block assist.

In the NCAA Division II national rankings, Kren currently ranks 81st in kills per set (3.41) and 93rd in points per set (3.87). She ranks among the top five in each category in the PSAC, holding fifth in kills per set and fourth in points per set.

Kren is the 13th Lady Knight to earn PSAC Athlete of the Week honors under the guidance head coach Matt Darling. Former Lady Knight Lauren Sazama was the last player to receive the conference weekly honor on Nov. 6, 2012. Sazama is also the last Lady Knight freshman to secure the honor on Sept. 1, 2009.

Gannon returns to action on Friday, Oct. 25 when they travel to California (Pa.) to face the Vulcans at 7 p.m.
