The Gannon men's basketball team continues its final road swing of the regular season Wednesday, February 16 at rival Mercyhurst. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Ticket windows at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center open at 4:30 p.m., one hour prior to the women's game.
Gannon improved to 12-10 overall and 3-7 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division with an 88-68 victory at Lock Haven last Saturday. The Golden Knights are one game behind California (Pa.), Edinboro and Clarion for the final playoff spot with four games to play. The squad still plays Cal and Clarion during the final four games.
Mercyhurst has been unstoppable since PSAC Western Division play began. The Lakers have won 11 consecutive games and have not tasted defeat since a 77-76 home loss to Mansfield on January 8. The squad is ranked 17th in NCAA Division II and fourth in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic regional rankings released February 9. The Lakers sit in first place in the PSAC Western Division, holding a two-game lead over defending champion Indiana (Pa.).
Gannon has won five of the last seven games against Mercyhurst and leads the all-time series 45-16. The Lakers have had the upper hand at home recently, winning four of the last seven games played at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Gannon is 16-7 all-time at the MAC.
