West Virginia Wesleyan is still searching for its first victory after opening the season with losses to Slippery Rock (2-0) and West Chester (1-0 in overtime). The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament last season, ending the campaign with a 13-7-1 overall record and 8-1-1 conference mark. The squad was picked to finish second in the WVIAC Preseason Coaches Poll, finishing five points behind favorite Davis & Elkins in the voting.

West Virginia Wesleyan leads the all-time series 11-6-1. However, Gannon posted a 2-0 victory last season when the two clubs met at Gannon University Field.
