ERIE, Pa – The Gannon women's basketball program has announced another addition to the 2010-11 roster, adding guard
Jessie Tamerlano (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton High School). Tamerlano joins the Lady Knights after spending one year at Division I Bowling Green State University (BGSU).
As a true freshman at BGSU, Tamerlano played in 20 games off the bench, including brief action in the Falcons' NCAA Tournament game vs. Michigan State. Tamerlano finished with a .429 shooting percentage and nine steals in 110 minutes of action.
“Jessie runs the floor well and defends with great intensity,” said head coach
Cleve Wright. “She has great size for a perimeter player and we are very happy to have her join our program.”
Tamerlano started four years under head coaches Dean Chuppa and Christine Noy at North Royalton (Ohio) High School. The McDonald's All-America nominee, averaged 19.7 points and 3.8 steals per game during her senior season. Tamerlano was a four-time all-league first-team selection, named conference MVP as a sophomore and served as team captain for two years. After her senior season, Tamerlano was rated the third-best wing in the state by the Ohio Girls Basketball Report. Tamberlano graduated from North Royalton as the all-time scoring champion with 1,450 points.
