Gannon Cross Country Teams Picked 14th and 15th in PSAC Preseason Poll

Head coach John Carrig's cross country teams enter the 2010 season as the underdogs in the PSAC.
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men's cross country team has been predicted to finish 14th and the women's squad has been picked 15th in the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Preseason Coaches Poll released Wednesday morning.

Shippensburg is the favorite to win a pair of PSAC titles in 2010. On the women's side, the Red Raiders were a unanimous choice to win the championship with all 16 first-place votes. Slippery Rock, Kutztown, Lock Haven and Millersville rounded out the top five.

On the men's side, Shippensburg secured 10 of the 15 first-place votes. Lock Haven captured three first-place votes to place second while Edinboro received two first-place votes and ranked third. East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock completed the men's top five.

The Gannon women's cross country team finished 15th at the PSAC Championships last season, before recording a 19th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional. Brittany Zaborowski (Mars, Pa./Mars Area) was Gannon's top finisher at the PSAC Championships while Rosie Cooper (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer) was the first Lady Knight to cross the finish line at the NCAA regional.

The Gannon men's squad placed 15th at the 2009 PSAC Championships and 20th at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional. #C.J. Kennett# (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) led the charge during both events.
