ERIE, Pa – Gannon head women's basketball coach Cleve Wright has announced the addition of Megan McSwain (Fort Washington, MD/Washington Christian Academy) and Doriyon Glass (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman High School) to the Lady Knights' squad.
"We are excited about the addition of Megan and Doriyon to our team," said Wright. "They are guards that will bring athleticism and depth to the guard position. Megan sees the floor well with the ball and Doriyon is explosive to the basket."
Glass averaged 11 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals for head coach Ronald Moschella during her senior season, earning second-team All-Federal League honors. Glass was named All-Federal League honorable mention after her freshman and sophomore seasons. During her sophomore year Glass helped her team to a final-four appearance at the Division I State Championships as well as district and regional titles.
Glass becomes a second-generation college basketball player following her mother, Dorothy, the all-time leading scorer at Youngstown State with 2,324 career points. Academically, Glass was named to the Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society.
McSwain played for head coach Milton Kimbrough at Washington Christian Academy in Olney Maryland. During her senior season she averaged 12.4 points, 2.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game. McSwain helped her team to a Maryland Independence School Athletic League (MISAL) Championship as well as a Maryland Christian School State Championship during her senior season. For those efforts, McSwain was named MVP of the MISAL and selected to the all-conference first team.
Gannon (37-1) advanced to the NCAA Division II Final Four for the first time in school history last season, before being eliminated with a 97-94 overtime loss to eventual champion Emporia State. The Lady Knights broke the NCAA Division II records for most victories (37) in a season and most consecutive wins (37) in a single season. Along the way, the program won its first-ever PSAC Championship and first-ever NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.
