ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's water polo team is among others receiving votes for the ninth time in the last 10 weeks in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 poll released Thursday afternoon.
The University of Michigan is still the unanimous No. 1 team for the 14th straight week, receiving 100 points. Hartwick College (94), Indiana University (91) and Bucknell University (83) completed the top four. Princeton University (78) and Brown University (78) were tied for fifth.
The University of Maryland (70), Harvard University (66), George Washington (59) and Mercyhurst College (45) rounded out the top 10. Gannon was the only team listed among others receiving votes with 11 points.
Head coach
Don Sherman's squad concluded the 2010 season with a 9-21 record. The Lady Knights finished fourth at the CWPA Western Division Championships.
Senior
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) was Gannon's leading scorer with 49 goals, 25 assists and 40 steals. Sophomores
Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and
Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) were second and third with 46 and 34 goals, respectively.
Freshman
Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) started 27 of 30 matches in goal, producing an 8.26 goals against average and .424 save percentage.
