FAIRVIEW, Pa. - The Gannon women's cross country team won the five-team Race in the Park hosted by Gannon and Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon at Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, Pa. Meanwhile, the Gannon men's team finished fourth out of six teams.
The Gannon women's team placed three runners in the top five and won the team title with 27 points. Mercyhurst (30), Thiel (99), Davis & Elkins (103) and West Liberty State (123) completed the top five.
Rosie Cooper (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer) was Gannon's top female runner, finishing third with a time of 25 minutes and 23.9 seconds.
Noelle Blank (4th, 25:31.3), Madison Stewart (5th, 25:36.2),
Jenna Szczepanski (7th, 26:12.5),
Kathleen Driving Hawk (8th, 26:19.1),
Brittany Zaborowski (11th, 26:57.8) and
Christina Estes (15th, 27:41.8) completed Gannon's seven scoring runners.
Kristin O'Hern (27:42.5),
Kenzi Buckham (27:45.4),
Dana Hyde (27:46.9) and
Jacque Huff (28:57.5) also competed for the Lady Knights.
Thiel captured the men's team title with 39 points. Mercyhurst (42), Davis & Elkins (76), Gannon (103), West Liberty State (123) and Pitt-Bradford (150) rounded out the six-team field.
#C.J. Kennett# (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) was Gannon's top male runner, finishing third with a time of 28 minutes and 7.9 seconds.
Joe Karmazin (14th, 29:16.4),
Phil Ruolo (24th, 31:22.5),
Joey Timon (31st, 32:57.9) and
Christopher Cuviello (34th, 33:34.0) completed Gannon's racing team.
Both Gannon cross country teams return to action Saturday, October 31 at the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships hosted by Edinboro University.
